The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces. We welcome veterans from all generations to join our ranks and help carry out our mission. 

Our Mission: To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans. 

Our Vision: Ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.

POST ex-QUARTERMASTER

HAS PASSED ...

Vince Przbyszewski, long-time Quartermaster and member of VFW Post 5290, passed on June 25, 2021.  Funeral arrangements and other opportunities to honor Vince will be forthcoming.  Our condolences go out to Vince's family for their significant loss.  VFW Post 5290 has lost a good and honest friend.

Navy veteran Craig Petrazewsky finally receives awards he earned in Vietnam

On April 28-29 1975, the USS Midway aircraft carrier and other U.S. Navy ships took part in the largest helicopter evacuation in history, carrying U.S. personnel and South Vietnamese refugees to safety as North Vietnamese troops pushed into Saigon. A total of 1,373 Americans and over 5,600 South Vietnamese nationals were successfully airlifted during Operation Frequent Wind, with the Midway receiving 3,073 evacuees.

Volunteers for the WW Jones Cookout this Saturday, May 22,2021, must be fully vaccinated and be able to provide proof or they will not be able to participate in the event. The Georgia War Veterans Home does not want to take a chance with any of the Veterans there getting sick.
