Commander's January Message

Charles A. (Tony) Dobbins State Commander - 1/8/2019

Comrades,

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year holiday. We are now in the last six months of this year’s membership campaign and four months remaining in the program year. I am asking each of you to help your post to fulfill our VFW responsibilities in membership and programs.

I am asking each post to be at 85% and each district to be at 90% by the end of January 2019. These are reasonable and achievable goals with your help. It will take all our members pulling together to reach these goals. Many of you have already worked so very hard in 2018 and I publicly thank you for your efforts. I need department officers, district officers, post officers and members to be positive motivators to help get this department to the 105% membership goal (June 2019) and 100% goal in reporting and obligations (April 2019). I am counting on each of you help get this department to the number one position nationally. I will be visiting as many of you as I can in the coming weeks.

Many of you may not know that our Commander-in Chief Vincent "BJ” Lawrence will be our National Representative at our Mid-Winter Conference in Macon from 15-17 February 2019. On Saturday night we will have our awards banquet for our state winners in the Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, Citizenship Education (Teacher) and Public Servant competitions. I highly encourage your participation that weekend to meet one of our most dynamic leaders of the VFW and meet our Georgia competition winners. For more information on registration, hotel and banquet, please visit our website at www.vfwga.com or call department headquarters at
(478) 474-3737.

I will continue working hard for you every day. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead this department to victory in 2018-2019. We will "Make It Happen" in Georgia because "United
We Stand.”

Respectfully Submitted.
Yours in Comradeship,
Charles A. (Tony) Dobbins
